The Pierre-Gilles de Gennes Institute (IPGG)

 

The Pierre-Gilles de Gennes Institute (IPGG) is the main academic research centre in France solely dedicated to microfluidics. Based in the heart of Paris it includes 15 research teams selected among the best institutions, representing about 200 research staff. The institute has developed a strong philosophy of interdisciplinary research in order to foster breakthrough innovation. This has led to the creation of 16 start-ups in just a few years. The fields of study cover subjects ranging from physics to chemistry and biology with many applications in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, environment and energy.

The National Research Council of Canada is the Government of Canada’s premier research organization at the federal level. Its Medical Devices Research Centre is home to experts in: biosensors/biochips, microfluidics, molecular labels and novel material architectures, medical photonics, radiofrequency (RF) coil and RF/microwave (MW) antennas and electronics, computer simulation and haptics technologies.  The Medical Devices Research Centre develops small, low cost innovative medical technologies that provide rapid, sensitive, accurate and low-cost solutions aimed at saving lives, reducing the health care burden and stimulating economic opportunities
