What the assessment measures
The assessment
carefully examines four broad areas that drive business success:
Owners' Relationships
Ownership Structures
Management Structures
CEO/Founder Readiness for Succession
Owners' Relationships
looks at a variety of ways in which owners interact both within
and outside their business environment, including communication
patterns, partner or sibling rivalry and other aspects of how owners
work together.
Ownership
Structures examines legal and financial aspects of how ownership
of the company is organized. This includes such issues as liquidity,
the ability of individuals to enter or exit ownership positions,
and the estate plan. Governance structures are also evaluated.
Management
Structures evaluates a broad variety of items including management
organization, employment and compensation arrangements, and successor
training.
And finally,
the CEO/Founder Readiness for Succession is evaluated by
carefully examining the CEO/founder's transitional style, including
delegation of authority, mentoring, and the degree to which he or
she is involved with outside peers and interests.
Each of these
four general areas is further subdivided into four unique factors,
for a total of sixteen specific factors that are evaluated by the
Family Business Assessment.
